MipiPlus – the everyday touch display with industrial speed

By Frank Ploenissen | 2 March 2023

Display products with MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) had previously been limited to purely high-volume consumer products, most notably smart phones. Recently, however, there has been a steady increase of MIPI products across industrial and medical applications and this has created more room for them mainly in handheld applications and sizes due to lower power requirements.

The new demand is understandable, as the MIPI connection provides higher speed and greater functionality when compared to the standard RGB or LVDS interfaces and many modern microcontrollers and microprocessors can be directly connected with MIPI. But the effort required for a successful implementation is often substantially higher simply due to the nature of the protocol and adjustments required to match the parameters of the selected display.

With this in mind, Avnet Embedded now offers the first product of a growing range of MIPI- specific touch displays called MipiPlus. The newly released 7.84” (19.9 cm) display comes with touch function ready-integrated. The 2.8mm protective front glass with neutral black border print gives the display an attractive and sleek design.
