Where displays are concerned, plenty of acronyms fly around. MIPI is one, LVDS and RGB/TTL are some others. You’d expect all three to be completely different, but life is never that precise, is it? For example, MIPI displays also use LVDS standards and as puzzling as that might sound, there are actually some fairly sound reasons for it.
Cables. We expect, like us, you have a love/hate relationship with them. On the one hand, for most applications when a TFT is connected to a touch, the complete Stack is connected over a short cable to a board. And that works just fine. After all, for this kind of application, a wireless PCAP makes no sense.

Four whole months. Imagine what you could achieve in this time, while you waited, patiently for your touch displays to arrive. In the past, this was normal. For a simple display stack with generic coverglass and display drivers, an engineer could expect to a sixteen-week lead time. Sometimes more.
Capacitive sensors are great – highly reliable and have a wide range of functions. But in the medical world there are some very particular requirements around the service life of such sensitive sensor technologies.
We are frequently asked if we can replace old membrane keypads with a new PCAP design. It makes sense, as the membrane design can present many problems – particularly as it ages. Simply put, membrane keys are less durable and their PET foil, which controls responsiveness, can and will break with frequent use.
It only feels like a few minutes ago that we shared the news of our MipiPlus 7”, 7.8” and 4” products, but already we have another addition to offer. We knew the launch of MipiPlus in February would be popular, but we’ve had such a great response to the 7.84” size that we’re now adding the 7” (17.78 cm) screen size to our portfolio. Integrating MIPI display products can be a complex process, but our significant experience in the field has given plenty of customers confidence to partner with Avnet Embedded for the journey.
Display products with MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) had previously been limited to purely high-volume consumer products, most notably smart phones. Recently, however, there has been a steady increase of MIPI products across industrial and medical applications and this has created more room for them mainly in handheld applications and sizes due to lower power requirements.
